HYPERMOBILE EXHIBITION

GROUND FLOOR

On the Coal Office ground floor, visitors will find a collaboration between Cozmo and terrarium experts, Botanical Boys.

COZMO + BOTANICAL BOYS

Cozmo returns to LDF with the launch of its inaugural showroom, which serves as a showcase for the brand's mission to counter the "fast furniture" trend by bringing accessible, enduring, and customisable design to the forefront of modern living.

The immersive display incorporating large scale plant arrangements from the Botanical Boys will enable visitors to delve into Comzo’s design ethos to create pieces that adapt, evolve, and endure with the ever changing needs and preferences of today’s customers

Central to this display is the original Cozmo Sofa, designed by the award-winning UK design studio, Raw Edges which will be shown alongside two new additions by the designers: The Cozmo Cosy Armchair, exemplifying the brand’s dedication to compact yet comfortable living and The Cozmo Cutout Tables, a sculptural set of three steel nesting tables that redefines functionality and aesthetics.

Known for their inventive, surprising forms, Raw Edges imbues Cozmo with their forward-thinking vision and brings a collectible, sculptural element to the brand.

BROADCAST STUDIO

One of the standout features of “HYPERMOBILE” is the Broadcast Studio, a collaboration between Tom Dixon, tech giant Sony and leading textile manufacturer Kvadrat. This cutting-edge space invites everyone, from podcasters, content creators to students and designers, to harness their creativity and utilize the studio for various endeavours for their own media channels.

PORRO

Architectural vision, fascination for the spirit of the place, pictorial sensitivity for matter and color and perfection of details: Porro unveils in London the codes of its sartorial design.

Come to visit the brand’s renovated space and find out more about the research on colour, inlay and design behind the new Linea collection by Alessandro Mendini.

Explosion of color, pure energy, patchwork of inlaid surfaces in cellulose acetate: Porro launches in London the new surprising Linea cupboards, result of an accurate research work in the Alessandro Mendini Archive conducted together with his daughters, Fulvia and Elisa Mendini, to the rediscovery of pieces with a timeless design not yet edited.

On display the open cupboard with open module and drawer, and the close cupboard with 2 hinged doors, raised on a dark base, they share full parts with geometric optical motifs juxtaposed with colored empty spaces: these new objects, edited in a limited edition of 50 pieces each, speak of a free use, outside the standards and logics of industrial production, all to be imagined in everyday life.

Bold pieces with a radical design, in which red, blue and light blue details, illuminated by the light shades of yellow and white and made deep by black in chiaroscuro, tell about the need for decoration in contemporary life, eschewing a minimalism tout-court: an ode to creativity, to the beauty of craftsmanship and to the value of quality beyond the ages, revealing at the same time the fascination with an extraordinary talent, and also a homage to a great master of design like Alessandro Mendini.

ZAHA HADID

On the occasion of the London Design Festival 2023, ZHD will unveil two prototypes –– coherently with the studio's unrelenting research at different scales and product typologies.

Ideally conceived for trade operators, fairs and temporary exhibitions, the ZHD_Display Unit is a modular system that can be deployed in virtually any environment and setting. The formal language is inspired by "Z-Play", a seating collection presented in Milan over 20 years ago, exploring natural geological phenomena such as erosion and stratification –– translating these natural occurrences into logical and functional interlocking geometries.

Currently manufactured in a high density, lightweight polyurethane, the ZHD_Display Unit offers endless possibilities of configuration, minimises waste, as well as it facilitates transport and logistics from one location to the next. The studio is currently closely working with the manufacturers, exploring the deployment of alternative materials, especially recycled polymers, and investigating the possibility of applying wire-cutting technology to the fabrication process –– giving new life to waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

ZHD's experimentation and thorough research efforts in the realm of innovative techniques and alternative materiality, are expressed also through CYCLOSCAPE –– a prototype family of centrepieces made of natural sand and developed through the most advanced 3D printing techniques. Collaborating with Sandhelden's experts in Germany, ZHD is working on reducing the impact of fabrication processes on our environment as well as conserving natural resources, a further leap towards cleaner and truly sustainable industrial processes.

During LDF 2023, ZHD will also showcase the newest colour iterations of the Aria&Avia Collection –– Turquoise, Blue and Ultramarine in a limited series of 99 pieces per shade –– further celebrating the tenth anniversary of the collaboration between Slamp and the studio.
